Street Shop’s C3 chassis is an all new, "mandrel formed", replacement chassis for your 1968-1982 Corvette, designed to fit under the stock floor-pan. Street Shop’s C4-based chassis utilizes 1989-96 Corvette suspension components and basic suspension geometry in the Front and Rear, whereas the Street Shop C7 based chassis utilizes 2014-current Corvette suspension components. Both chassis/suspension combinations are a drastic improvement in handling and braking capability. Designed around the car's original features, this chassis allows you to "bolt on" your original body with NO modification to your C3 Corvette body*.
*C7 based chassis requires raising rear floor app. 4” and widening rear inner fender wells (replacement floor section available inquire).
The process of mandrel bending our 4"x2"x0.120" wall steel tubing maintains the dimension of the tubing, thereby providing the maximum amount of strength from the finished frame rail. These one-piece, formed rectangular rails are very rigid and lightweight. The end result is a frame that weighs slightly less than the original, but also one that resists the twisting and flexing common to these cars.
All chassis are finished in durable semi-gloss black powder coating and feature stock mounting for the bumpers and body. Engine and transmission mounts, which are capable of many engine / transmission combinations, are vertical mount style with a removable transmission cross member. Engine location is lower than stock to enhance handling by achieving a lower center of gravity. Coil-over shocks are used at each wheel and provide a completely adjustable ride, while a power rack and pinion steering unit is included for quick and responsive steering.
